No I'm not, I'm the one that takes Kirsty out to eat etc etc, her family aren't tight they just like to watch what they spend.
All I want to know is if £350-400 is going to be enough for evening meals for say 9-10 of the 14 days, a few drinks in the evening and a boat trip or 2. The resr is covered.

and in the official posh change offices when they advertise "No Commission" most of the time its bullshit and they say no its not commission its currency tax or some shit
I always change my money in hotels or bars, they give you a good rate and dont piss you about

Just come back from Kas in Turkey, this is mainly a Turkish holiday resort and not full of English (perfect!) so they dont rob you blind like they do in the very touristy resorts. Turkey did indeed used to be cheap but its not any more.
Me and the girlfriend spent £800 in 6 days. We didnt buy any presents or waste money in any way. That was just on drinks (its very hot out there at the moment so you will have a few drinks/ice creams during the day), and food for lunch and dinner. Then a few beers on the night. The beer is the killer really 5TL for less than half a pint - so around £2.50 per half a pint - not cheap! We didnt have many maybe 6 glasses a day at the most.
I would take around £500 per week, and as some one has suggested change it at the post office and you can change what you dont spend back. Better to have too much than too little.
You dont want to ask the girlfriends parents for money do you! Or to be tight all holiday because you didnt take enough. Oh one last thing if you are flying to Dalaman airport, on the way back either take food and drink with you whilst waiting for your plane or make sure you are not hungry! Duty free is reasonable but the food and drink is ridiculously expensive! Funniest thing I saw was a KFC bargain bucket 81TL
Have a good time, great place!

£800 in 6 days
I did less than that in this country and less than that in Spain!
I'm really not a big drinker of the alcohol. Plus I won't be asking them for money, I'll be withdrawing more from an ATM, be paying for stuff I want in the supermarket using my credit card etc etc.

well if you dont eat at all then yes you could do half that. We were not big drinkers either but things like coke/lemonade is just as expensive in bars 3.5TL to 4TL.
The £800 is between the two of us. Typically a day we had - a sandwich and salad to share at lunch with a beer and soft drink, a couple of soft drinks and bottle of water around the pool/beach during the day, 2 course evening meal with a glass of wine and 2 beers, a glass of wine and a beer back at the hotel before we went to bed.
In Kas the sunbeds at the beach are free - the rest of turkey they charge you for it. The only other cost we had was some suntan cream (we ran out, even though we took loads) and the saftey deposit box at the hotel (5TL iirc).
We ate in fairly decent resturants but noting to expensive an avarage evening meal came in at 90-100TL for the 2 of us.
You will pay through the nose changing money in that way - you will be robbed blind!

I am sure you can, but dont forget thats between 2 people! £400 for 1 person in a week is not that much money, when you consider you are easting out all day every day and not wanting to worry about money all day every day whilst on holiday. Yes you could have a bowl of chips and water for lunch, just drink water all day and then find a dirt cheap kiosk for food on the evening.
Not really what I want out of a hoilday, not saying we have no regard for money because we do watch what we speed and often went to different resturants due to the high costs.
Like many we thought turkey would be dirt cheap, simple fact is thats its not and they are just as affected by todays climate as we are.

I was there last year spent £400 in 7days!
5 course meals - £5 in some place are amazing too
nice meal out can be £10-£20 per meal
Depending how much you want to drink......
Lots to buy, clothes, gold,
Water sports, boat trips, water parks, any activites you fancy
£10 - £50
I would be taking £400 in lira, and maybe £100-£200 in sterling, pop it in the safe incase you need it, if you don't you can fetch it home again!
Rather have too much £££ with me than not enough and spoil the holiday!

MatG...I dont know where you went but the prices you are quoting for beer etc is a joke...
I have been all over Turkey and have never paid more than 3YTL for an Efes...some places its 2YTL or 2.5.
I have been to Turkey and done everything you did....ate out every meal everyday...plus had to pay for sunbeds at the beach on £300 for a week. That was eating in nice restaurants too.
For two weeks I would take £700

My last trip was exactly the same as this...
Tell you one thing though...Bodrum airport is a rip off...I paid £12!! For a pizza and chips!
A can of Sprite was £4.
All Turkish airports are like this though.
