My girlfriend after her bonuses is on over £15k working at the bottom of a Customer Development Team. She has 2 A levels. She also works part time at Tesco, so really shes on about £16.5k a year, probly more tbh, but she works her arse off for it. Im a student so am only part time, but I get the housework done for her, tea cooked for when she gets in etc, kind of a role reversal. Shes only doing it cos we are saving for a house mind.
Think they are taking the piss but heed Colin's advice!!! DONT QUIT YOUR JOB UNTIL YOU HAVE ANOTHER ONE!

Its a big thing to do but it'll be for the best. Im sending out CVs at the moment. Im leaving Vauxhall, hopefully to blag a job at a VW dealer South of here

am on 24 a year, my job is soooo easy i can do what i want. I also sell alot and can easily double my wage. IMO if i was stressed id leave, health comes before pay. You see jobs advertised that a monkey could do for 20k, sometimes i wonder whats the point of education

My petrol bill at the moment is about £240 per week, I do just over 60miles (round trip) every day; that means you must be easily spending £400?
I'm guessing you take home £890 a month (ish) Is it even worth working there?
I have smilar sleepless nights worrying about boats in build and delivery schedules/ what I've done or not done etc but then I'm paid a hell of a lot more which kind of justifies the extra worry.
IMO, they're using you as a cheap source of income and also as a potential scapegoat when things go wrong and its not a fair position on a realatively low wage

You should stick it out IMO, I was earning 9k (yes, 9k  ) when I first started doing IT, I was working a second job at night to keep my car on the road.
If you leave now what can you take to another job? If there paying for your exams then get an MCSA under your belt while your looking for something new, closer to home.
I have a 70 mile round trip everyday, its not fun and costs quite a bit but I find there are few IT jobs local

2. Once a new job has been obtained hand your notice in at your current job.

Get a new job.
I went from earning a high wage in central london. Emotionally was killing me, making me depressed etc.
I quit, moved down to a job local to me, took a huge paycut, more hours per week, no OT pay, no flashy worldwide travel.
Best thing i ever done. Normal people, less stress, hardly any travel, home earlier (although i work 30 min more per day), generally the best thing I done.
Don't go do a degree, waste of time.
Stick with certified IT courses (i gather your in IT), move away from Microsoft, do more involved detailed courses, get a new job.
While your in a job, its easier to find one.

I'm trying to go freelance with my design at the moment, i just had my yearly pay review and it went up a whopping £630 and i'm still getting paid less than what i should be.
Freelance is definitely the way for me, just getting into it is a tough job, im slowly doing it though, i now have my website done, business cards done and in the middle of sorting out a mailing pack to advertise myself. I'll go from just under £10 an hour to £45 per hour if i go freelance!
Its just getting those first few clients which is the tough bit!

P.S - I don't enjoy my current job anymore either, im only still here because i have rent to pay and i like the people who work here. But that won't sort out the rest of my life so i've had to choose to make the change!
