i suppose what it says on paper and how a car actually performs can be different

my mate says his car says down on paper its a 1.4 sri so you would think so until you open the bonnet and see he got everything possible changed under the bonnet

corsa 1.4 16v sport:
0-60 - 10.5s
112mph top speed
88bhp

saxo 1.6 vtr(97):
0-60 - 9.9
116mph top speed
90bhp

so on paper the saxo stacks up against the corsa, but thats standard from the factory

gears play a role too.

Thats like any engine coverted car which is still down as the original on the log book? if you had a 1.0 12v and put a tuned C20LET in it it would still be classed a 1.0 12v on paper

Some manufacturers dumb down the figures they release.

From my experience, as much as i dislike them, Saxos are nippy little cars.

last time i remember seeing his car i remember the air filter was a foam air filter, but he says its been chipped and cammed and he has new exhaust and de-cat and manifold, he said he spent about £3000 on the car but sold it a month ago and the lad who bought it crashed it in2 a field just outside of risley in nottingham, between risley and borrowash

I have a pretty much standard corsa sport 1.6 (panel filter, derestricted air box and scorpion cat back system) and ive beaten alot of VTR's but have only raced two VTS's. Chased one up a hill with ease but then he went mental round corners like an idiot so i pulled back and the other had two little chavlings in which was modded and sat behind them at 125mph (not on a public highway.....) but i fell back due to neither winning or loosing and didnt want to keep my car in such high revs. So 1.4 sport would loose to both and a 1.6 would beat vtr's mostly but would loose to vts's unless the vts driver was 80 and drove with one foot slightly on the brake

The only way this could happen is if the Corsa grew arms and legs and had enough aptitude to use a rocket propelled grenade launcher.

Otherwise, you Sir, are a tit.

had a s2 VTR, now got a 1.4 sport.

hate to say it but the saxo wins hands down.

its better to compare the VTR to a 1.6 imo.
