The above contact details are of British 'VF Engineering' distributors and registered fitters. VF Engineering's stage 2 s'charger makes 350ps on a MK IV Golf.

Maybe worth having a chat with your nearest distributor for advice. They may even have a demonstrator.

In addition to the C25XE argument, AFAIK the C25XE is around 170bhp whereas the R32 VW (engine code: BJS), is around 240bhp and is a 3.2 24V compared to a 2.5. Where is the comparison?

VW all the way

Cheers for those mate, will make a few calls this week. The C25XE argument was just to make an example of a 4 cylinder turbo being more tunable than a NA V6 for the same money

Heres something ive thought about that may cause problems.
Will a 4 pot motor mate up to the 4wd system in the golf??As none of the 4wd cars came in 4 cylinder form, they were either v5 or v6 so the engine itself will be bigger in size.

Will the gearbox/txb fit??

ALthough the corsa may be faster you need to look at the whole package, I used my Corsa as a daily driver for 4 years when everyone else was buying bm's and what not using the reasoning that the corsa was quick..

I bought my Audi and its by no means a rocket but the whole package of the car makes it 100 x better than driving a corsa everyday

That said I am hoping to build another Corsa for next summer

Throwing away the v6 and spending 16k on a 4 pot motor is just plain retarded.

You can turbo or supercharge the V6 for less than that.

I actually dont know why cant you start with a normal 1.8t rather than butcher a good R32

These modern remaps can change the flow rates of fuel injectors, regulated fuel pressure and max turbo output.

You obviously got one that just changes the ecu map

Point well made Ian, i forget all the different 1.8 20vT engines there is.

The s3 has a AUQ with 180bhp standard?

as apposed to Jason's ibiza with an AGU that has 150bhp

I can neve remember the engine codes, there are 3 engine variants in the S3 afaik

Power wise they are 99-00 210 as standard, 00-03 225, both remap to the same anyway so doesn't make much odds really.

£16k was a quote I got a couple of weeks ago for a package on the R32 engine and it was a twin turbo conversion, however I agree that price is rediculous.

It turns out I will have problems mating up a 4 cylinder engine to the 4wd system as corsa_sport said. The coupra R is 210 BHP though guys.

Cheers for the opinions though, was hoping it would have been a bit more straight forward mixing engines and gearboxes but it seems not

None of the Cupra Rs were 210bhp.
