driving down roads like that, you just have to think what if there was a little kid on his bike around the corner, you hit them at say 50mph and they die.

How would you feel?

Exactly.

I'll never hammer it around a bend without knowing its clear, or at least wide enough that you'll have space to dodge / avoid whatever you see.

The fact you caught cars up on some of the roads proves there is traffic that uses the road, it's just you were lucky they were going the same way as you. If you had gone around a bend at 60 and seen a car coming the other way doing 20-30 mph, you'd have no chance to stop in time.

The fact also the roads look bumpy, it'd make your ABS kick in and stop you being able to brake at all. I know in my Gti, if you hit bumps while braking hard, the brakes 'release' as it thinks your locking up wheels (when infact they're going airborne briefly over the bumps).

Sorry to get on the high horse etc, but there's generally a reason why young drivers can't have 106 gti's and the like as their first car, and it usually ends up with 'driver + friends killed in dangerous driving down country lane' headline.

That was my point, I do boot it on country roads sometimes, but not single track like that.

sorry but i tend to disagree with that comment paul.

i know where you'e coming from as young people with a lot of power will always want to 'test it out' but you can still do just as much damage in a 1.2 8v corsa.

it's all about knowing you're limits, the limits of the road and when to realise it isn't safe for the conditions.

the driving in the video is stupid, what i saw of it anyway. i clicked off after 1:30 as it was so boring

Yeah I agree, can happen in any car, but imo more likely to happen in a quicker car as it can get you into trouble quicker.

I'm so glad I got nicked doing 3 figures mph in my 106 gti when I got it, as originally I drove it flat out everywhere. Getting caught speeding slowed me down a lot. But my Corsa I used to drive flat out everywhere However never down blind lanes, but just about everywhere else.

Not worth the risk. Far safer to save it for the track, or at least do it on a piece of road that has good visibility (so you can see there is nothing on it or round the corner) before you gun it.
