hasnt really affected me, but my mate has been given two weeks unpaid leave from his building company. his dad is also roofer/builder, so he cant offer him any work at the mo either.
seems to have picked up some air conditioning installation job for the time being whilst he is off though, so not all bad

Yea my mate is a roofer and he's actually not had any work come through for about a month now
Wish he was closer, I'm having to wait six weeks to get a roofer to come.
I've been getting quotes from builders are they're all daft money as they're all so busy! I'm in aberdeen, if you know anyone that'll come and build a storey extension on the side of my house for less than £70k send them up!

My dad is roofer, no end of work for him
But I used to be a painter and had to stop due to no work before Christmas time, everything really dries up around that time of year and after this year I expect it'll be twice as bad as last year

only thing that messed us up was the lorry drivers strike in spain.

If everyone got the pay rises they are asking for then the Bank of England will rise interest rates even more making the whole situation worse. We're going through a rough patch and everyone needs to sit tight... It's tough for a lot of people though

less work = less income.
why would your boss give people a pay rise if there wasn't enough income coming into the business?

We're Building Surveyors with a small estate agency department.
Loads of work in surveying (thats me ) but little to do for the agents. Luckily a lot of work we do is for a small number of EXTREMELY loyal clients who always want stuff doing so we'll be fine.
Heard reports of other estate agents going from selling 40 houses per month down to 5! Hope it doesn't affect my bonus

Our sales team have got off their arse and brought in some work for a change. We're busy enough at the moment. However, a techie down so that has probably helped.
We should get a pay increase around January. I moaned about fuel prices and got told to use the van more

Just starting to see the effects with the house builder i work for.. agency workers are told not needed, workers less than 1 years service may lose jobs and the company is now doing appraisals to see who is dead wood.
Being a tradesman i can see it being quite a tough few months with crap sales of homes effecting how much we earn.

We was feeling it since about the end of march up until monday. Usually there is orders coming in for upto 40-60 window frames per day. That went down to 20-30 if we were lucky. At the minute, there has been a few big orders come in upto 100 per day, so really in theory it should balance itself out
