What about a 1.4TDi Ibiza pow?
You said it's underpowered, but I can't see it be any worse than a 1.3 Corsa.

Dad and I were talking about a blue corsa and a bigger engine, so downsize the "runaround"

the seat arosa comes in a 1.4 tdi, which has really big mpg. I dnt know if it comes with cruise control though, and is basically a lupo.

You'll get a far older higher mileage lupo for the price you'll get a corsa though.

A bit of that and a bit of the fact it's got a VW badge.
It won't even just be a slight difference, the lupo will be years older and probably have 100k miles.

Everything apart from the transmission.
How do you mean?
The engines are usually a lot stronger than the gearboxes. Once re-mapped the diesels produce a lot of torque which has been known to cause problems with the transmission so not everything is ok totally standard.

Oh, yeah, I kind of knew that. Just I saw one at PVS, think it was on the Regal stand. Z13DHT remapped to 125bhp.

I'm not disputing at all it's the better car, Nearly bought one myself, going years and tens of thousands of miles back to get one isn't ideal though.
You can get laods of cars that are better than loads of other cars if you go old and high mile enough, which a large proportion of people don't want to do.

Plus the Lupo is a fair bit smaller. Facelift Corsa C (incidentally the only period the 1.3 comes in) is best of both worlds imho.
