If there weren't any council houses maybe people wouldn't have kids until they had a house and afford them, what an alien concept that would be

I remember when I was quite young, council houses always had a stigma attached to them. It seems that no-one else had them at the time:
Satellite Dishes.

a freind of a freind has a brand new council flat in a nice area aswell! and after paying the 'bills' she has loads of money left over! wears nice clothes, has the internet, goes out most weekends... even has a credit card ! aparently dosnt look after the kid that well and just dosnt see the point in working as she gets a better life and more money by not working and staying home all day with the kid! well the kid goes to nursery (which is also paid for!)

I didnt think they built council houses any more. I cant think of any local ones thats been built in my lifetime. Then of the existing ones most have been sold off....cheap.
Everyone in this countries desperate to own a house, look anywhere else in europe....most are rented/own by local authourity.

Council houses are in the middle of normal estates and blocks of flats etc.
My mate's just bought a flat and the 2 blocks next to them are owned by the housing association.

See people have absolutely no ambition.
It should be, the housing market is difficult to get on to, that will make me go and get a decent job and work towards my future and buy a house, not i'll just try and get a council house.

I cant think of any new ones here, infact they've started pulling dwn some of the older ones & replacing them with private housing.
Ive seen 'link housing' in a few towns....is that a modern day cooncil house
In my street one side of the road was council owned, 80% are private owned now & the other side was owned by the local oil refinery to house workers - there all private now.
Council houses just dont seem to be as common now

Thats exactly what im doing. Big flashy house doesnt just come out of thin air you've got to work for it
I bought my humble home aged 22, its nothing fancy at all, infact most on here would turn their nose up at it, however im plodding away making the most of it.
