Deano, will you quit worrying?!?
100 degrees will NOT boil coolant, it was 26 degrees yesterday in traffic so the temp gauge will go up!
Yes it is normal, and yes it is normal that the temp gauge hits 100 degrees and yes the fan will kick in and yes it will steam. You WILL know if the head gasket has gone, trust me.

 thanks. Heaters on ftw to try and keep temps down probably made it worse considering it stayed at constant temp, rather than up and down.
