Get the m3 convertible, I like the way they look with the roof up tbh 
That audi 2.8  looks awesome but hardly in same league as an m3 or m5.

Circumstances -
Im doing c.500 miles a week just now & will be doing so until 26th April 2009 when I officially finish training & start my new job, I would buy something earlier to get a good deal - ie convertible in winter when their cheaper/its easier to get a bargain. Ive got up to 16.5k to spend taking into account if I get 5k for my golf. Its kinda cruel looking just now as I technically can....but in reality cant until Im closer to finishing the commute!

used to work in a bmw bodyshop and there nice but personally think and a4 is better as driven a few of them aswell.
They do feal nice to drive, just make sure that the hood all works perfect as the rams on them are bloody expensive and if i rember correctly the labour cost is large to change them.
if you can get one in a bmw custom colour aswell they look the best.
