80-90p a litre is very fair I think. And why should diesel be charged more? They're better for the enviroment, yet the government prices it higher then petrol. Dont say anything about it being harder to refine either, as diesel is a by-product of petrol.
Theres really not a tremendous amoutn we can do... as said, the oil companies dont really charge that much for oil but the gov't have to get the taxes form somewhere...
Diesel is charged more as it costs more to make, simple... as said its a by product, therefore requires additional work to get it to its sold state... also diesle isnt better for the environment at all, its worse!

My bird is in Uni and shes just finished for the summer or whatever it is, first thing she done was go into the job centre to try and get a job for the time being, cause shes got a kid they said to her "you'd be better off not working you know, your entitled to this and that and youd get your rent paid for etc etc" What a joke... someone goes in for a job and they try and sell her benefits! No wonder everythings costing us a fortune!

Your hardly better off on benefits though, yes you get loads of shit payed for you,but you get £95 a fortnight to pay loads of bills pay for food and by the time theyre payed you have no money left to socialise,no money to run a car etc.
I was on the dole few years ago for about a month, and to say your better off on the dole is a joke,i suffered for a month and suffice to say i was glad to get off the dole.
I hope i never have to go back on it again.
oh and i still live with my parents and the £95 was gone in a few days even though i didnt have to pay lodge.

Depends how you work it Nova, if you pump out a couple of bastards, get a council house and pay 10 quid a week rent etc, then your benefits are more than enough to fuel your heroin addiction.

Got to agree, the price of fuel, and running a car in general is getting out of hand IMO.

90% of the oil ocmpanies revenue doesn't come from forecourt fuel anyway. It comes from other crude oil products such as Plastic!
You could stop buying fuel altogether and they wouldn't be out of pocket

Protesting against the wrong people though, its the goverments fault for the high petrol prices not the petrol companys.
and blockadeing bp and esso is just pointless.

I'm sorry but the government have always taken a load of Tax from a litre of fuel. It is OPEC that have continually made the cost of oil rise on a weekly basis. I'm not excusing the government but it really does need to be a two pronged attack at both OPEC ie the oil companies anf the government.

The reason the price of oil has gone up is because of the iraq war not the oil company.
Everytime the price of oil climbs so does the duty on fuel.

Just kidnap all the workers at that pumping station in scotland, that was a one day strike and loads of places ran out
Return them on condition we get the fuel tax halfed.
I hope in 2010 when all the road tax increases kick in we start to see an improvment in the road conditions, im sick of the potholes round here.

Has nothing to do with it. OPEC have just point blankly refused to lower prices or up production to cope with demand.

The reason the price has gone up is because all of whats going on in the middle east, where most of the oil we use comes from.not so they can make more profits.
