anyone know how it works with contents insurance etc and how you claim the stuff back? do they send replacement items or cash for them?

my laptop was pretty special and a precise spec - i use it for development stuff and programming... so I want that model again or equiv... not just some budget acer shit they picked off the shelf.

don't suppose you have any pics of your room before the stuff was taken might help with the claim possibly. I took shit loads of pics of all my tools at work, just incase the worst were to happen.

All taken in my room... the GTA 4 pic was taken literally on thurs and shows the xbox 360 too.

bugger, been reading up and spoke to my mate and he reckon these claims can take months and months to get settled

He said his mate's took over 9 months! till he got replacement shit.

I don't want to be without a laptop and xbox 360 for months. I need my laptop now and would like a xbox 360 again!

anyone had any experience with how long it takes?

yes depends on the claim mate! i had a hosuehold insurance claim come through within a month and a mate took literally the best part of a year.

keep onto them ringing them up and dont give up until they say theres a cheque coming through the post!!

My sister had her house broken in to late November last year, about 15 grands worth of electrical goods where taken. They had either receipts for everything or anything specific new the details and costs, most stuff was replaced like for like and if they couldn't, they were givin a moneytary value. You shouldn't have a problem sorting it out.

1 month there or there abouts from when it happening to everything being sorted. She did say she couldn't believe how helpful and the police and insurance company were.

They even caught the bastid that done it just afer crimbo.

We were broken into in 2001, only knicked about £10's of stuff but created over £5k's of damage was all covered on the insurance, and done pretty quick too
