jas, you basialy asking for an old shcool motor becuase they are nippy, reilable and under 1k... Good luck
if a quick car is under 1k IMO it need something doing to it... dont see many nice clean and tidy motors for under that mark.

Dont know if there quick enough but you looked at bmw's? old banger RWD
