You'd be surprised Ive had one lady buy me breakfast from the burger van on the car park once
An old man this last easter weekend gave me £1.18 (in change) for loading up 4 bags of compost

I get tips for helping old people put big packages in their cars.
used to pocket tips at resturant work. mainly cos they would give them to me. If I put them in a put, they were shared out dependant on hours worked. I was part time 10 hours a week so they could fo.

i dont give them anymore. Pay enough for meals. Staff shouldnt expect them, if they want more money get another job. If the company in question want more money raise thier prices. Get screwed enough over here without giving more brass away.

Yeah just refuse to take them, that will fuck off the management!
Tips are a bit silly anyway, ive never really understood what there for, it seems to be the done thing if you go for a meal leave a few quid but why people are paid accordingly for doing the job!

Apparently its because they are not paid much they expect to be tipped. Theres plenty low paid jobs you dont get tips though. Ive never went out & gave a shiny penny to my bin man for doing a good job emptying my bin, why should a waiter be different

Same with the barbers, £7 for not even 10 minutes work. Yet it seems the done thing to give your change from a tenner to the burd thats just ruined your day telling you how many holidays shes been/going on
I tip my barber once in a while, couple quid. Seems crazy though 7-10 quid depending on tip for 10mins work & the place is always packed out. Must be minted!!

i never tip, i haven't got the coin to do it and as said, why would you tip someone for carrying your food over when you wouldn't tip a bus driver for instance who has theoretically just had your life in his hands, bit extreme but surely a valid point.
If i wanted to tip someone in a restaurant it would be the chef, they are the ones that actually did something that maybe worth tipping if it surpases expectations.

I was a gardener for the council Colin and was on £6.50 an hour, equal opportunities and all that bollox! When I was working there though if we got a tip we was meant to lash it in a kitty for the works night out at chrimbo etc but noone ever did, just split it between the team of 4-5 of us.
Im now a taxi driver and get tips all day long, I also work for Tesco as a delivery driver and weve been told not to accept tips from anyone but we do.

If your good and I mean really good, then you split tips 75/25 in your favour before it even sees the tip pot.
I used to work tables well and could earn £150+ per night; some of the others never spoke to a customer in a shift, wouldn't go out of their way to get drinks etc. and would earn less than £10 a shift. There was no way I was splitting my tips, when I'd put in the work.
When I finally ended up managing the pub and restuarant I added a rule that any stupid mistakes which cost the business money, I.E. not putting a bottle of wine or drinks or desserts onto someones bill or un-necessary breakages came out of tips.
After the first couple of weeks, there were no mistakes and no breakages

If she sorts her own tips at the end of the day/night then they don't have to but if the boss sorts them and pays them out then they have to pay tax on them.

Wrong! its still classed as income wether she splits it or the boss splits it and as such she should pay tax on it. It doesn't matter who splits it.
Tips are harder to trace anyway, thats why in the food service industry I'm fairly sure you are under a different tax code which takes account of a level of gratuities, regardless of wether you declare them or not
