That is shocking behaviour. I hope you feel disgusted with yourself. You cant expect others to copy what you do!

I know quite a few people that went to college etc and havnt even gone into, or not been able to get into what they were studying. Just because you have a piece of paper, doesnt mean you'll get a certain job. Its all about selling yourself ive found.

Do ACA if your firm will allow over ACCA/CIMA.

NO NO NO
Its a lesser qualification, too much steeped in history... its only really relevant to those who will be auditing all the time!!
Way behind ACCA in current stakes... its for the Big 4 and historic practices only
Big 4: ACA
Practice: ACCA
Industry: CIMA
Of which only ACCA is really flexible enough to allow you to choose between all 3 careers

The plan is to go onto ACCA afterwards
Why ACCA over CIMA, out of interest?

If you want to get to the top in accounting/finance the ACA is the one to do, mainly because it often involves a Big 4 training contract.

ACA have more CEOs and finance directors in FTSE 100 companies than any other accountancy body (Accountancy, October 2006).
Amongst finance directors, financial controllers, accounts managers, directors and management accountants, ICAEW- qualified salaries are on average 22% higher than CIMA-qualified (Accountancy Age, 27 October 2005).

Yes because most CEOs/CFOs are old now hence the historic comment
Working for a big 4 firm isnt the only way to get ahead, especially these days But I do take your point, as I say, historically ACA has always been the onn but their student intake etc is far far lower than ACCA these days and the trend will slowly change as the current generation retires
ACA generally lives on its name and reputation, which is fair enough as it has a very good one!
