If a standard one does 15.5 quarters i'd say mine must be in the 14's, remap also means its pulls right past 4k.
As above, cheap tax, insurance etc, all round good car tbh and i've not lost a traffic light gp to anything yet.
Whitter is always slagging them, his bmw engine with blown turbo's and that nobody can remap is better obviously.

I am nit slagging them off
they are not that quick, run out of breathe very quickly, unrefined and noisey
And without a my car being remapped you would see your arse

You are always saying how they are though, they are refined and quiet enough for the price point.
You have an overpriced car because of the badge and it blows turbos, mine is still going strong.
I wouldn't go near a 1 series or most bmw's tbh, I see very few fab vrs's i see everybody who thinks having a bmw badge means something driving a 1 series though.

A jabbasport mapped one at the pod was getting 15.8 all day long so a standard one doing a 15.5 really? maybe if its crail or Avon Park I guess?
Before you rip me apart i've driven a few really hard and I am still considering one for my daily drive.

I was basing figures on what was posted last page, i don't know what they do up the 1/4.
I don't really care why you bought a 1 series, it costs a lot more than the fabia so woop de do its a bit faster and more refined, is it more refined and faster relative to the money they cost, and I know yours is a company car so you didn't pay or whatever.

Well exactly so i didn't get the car becuase it cost more than its competitors
I got uit vbecause at the time the leases on BMW were excellent so therefore i coul;d spec it up to a simialar pec to my previous privately owned car
Its a common trdae that people with skodas get this badge imagine and cost issue
Yopu skoda is made from the same bin of parts as SEAT and VW so whats the issue - i haven't got one
My point is the PD units are ok engines but not great
Carry on by all means

You still don't get the point, you go on about it being noisy and unrefined.
I'd say that's quite a good trade off for the large sum of money you save over buying a bmw, what part of that do you not get?

I agree but you could buy a lslightly older car which is more refined and quicker and not necessarily a BMW
VAGs are well known for producing good diesels engines but are very noisey and unrefined
It depends what floats your boast and circumstances
I wanted a fast diesel with low emissions with a simialr spec to a TT
TBH the emissions is now my major driver in buying car with income tax
Anything else

plus some asked for opinions
Regardless of cost thats my thoughts
TBF the same engiens are in Audi's and cost alot more - so whats your point

Audis and vw's have more sound deadning and dampening making it less noisy.

No chance, my clio strugles to get under 15 and its wastes vrs's off the lights, not even close.
3rd gear on boost is a different storey, but 1/4 miles all about the start

I like both and have driven the Fabia vRS too. Only driven the SDi diesel version of an Octavia! Still liked the car overall though.
Contemplating changing my Impreza for a Fabia vRS.

at the badge snobbery argument
you Skoda owners ONLY own skodads now because they are part of VAG, if they were still czech shitboxes you wouldt want one
I seen Whitters BMW the otherday looks a very posh car and im sure it is,
how you can start comparing Skodad to BMW`s I dont know

Thats true Matt, who would own a poorly made shit box?
If they were still Skoda now and weren't part of VAG but had the quality they have now then people would still buy them.
Skoda were a high quality manufacturer back in the day too!
