Not very Tom but still gives you a bit of 'bike freedom'.

Its got a few things done but its pushing about 55mph/60mph. Takes a while to get there but up to 45 its not bad going.

Fun mate, Just not fast.

How old is that bike Allan?

02, 51 plate but on a private R6 plate. For some unknown reason my m8 got it 1 month and about 2 weeks before an 02 plate was out. He couldn't wait. I bought it off him after a year.

Edit: So yep 6 years old, 9250 miles and I bought it with 5,000 of them already covered It's in excellent condition.

Sorry Mods, this isn't a for sale thread just giving the details. if I decide to sell it I'll put one up in classifieds.

I don't like motorbikes, they frighten me

Almost 3 years ago, a fire engine answering a 999 call, crashed head on at the brow of a hill into my 2 cousins on their bike. There injuries were horrendous, I'll never forget going to visit them in hospital They were both left disabled for life.

balls , nope the R1 is only a little heavier but has a fair bit more power. I'd say it's a lot easier to ride than the 6 as you can lazily ride about everywhere in 5th gear and the torque will carry you. With the 6 your a lot more up and down the box but that's the fun. The R1 however will also get you into a lot more bother if your ham fisted with the throttle in any gear, roll ons and acceleration is leagues ahead and is not for a beginner. I have ridden an 04 R1 and it was immense.

Sorry to hear that Jade , however there is risks with everything in life including crossing the road etc.. on a bike there's just a little more but you take your chances. Most fatal accidents can be contributed to other parties so makes no difference if yur the best rider in the world. You can never judge what someone else is about to do. All car drivers should have at least a day on the road as bike rider imo. Just to see how much awareness you need and how easily a bike can be on your blind side. Makes you a much better car driver imo.

Can be as bad as car for younger riders. I've paid £1200 in the past for an RS250 when I was younger. I only pay £250 fully comp for the 6. Can vary as with anything depending on age, location, type of bike etc..

Yes I agree with you Allan, they could have been in a car that day and left in the same state. But there's something about motorbikes and speed that terrifies the living day light out of me more than cars and speed Its hard to explain, think its because a bikers seems more vunerable, cos he/she's not 'inside' a vehicle Offft I can't explain it tbh

I know what you mean it's the same conversation that comes up with family, parents and people who still ask if I have the bike. Generally you will come off worse in an accident but as always depends on the type. In some cases being thrown clear as with car drivers without a belt on has resulted in far less damage. Jade get Colin one of these for your living room.

TBH on a modern sportsbike 70 is not that bad, the screen I have deflects the air over the lid and if tucked in it's hardly noticable at all. 140+ is a different story and requires a little more yoga skills
