i think that new form you are talking about is a V170 or sumthing.
£80 if you have a car along with V5 new keepers slip to put it on, otherwise £105, which includes retention for 12 months until you get a car to assign it to. Trust me ive done the process enough times!

Sighthill? You should have badgered them to do it there & then, sometimes they do if you ask nice, other times if there busy they will take the forms & tell you to come back later or they will forward it to you...............usually if their choked up with polish imigrants trying to get road tax for a car thats not theirs

Length of time depends what day you turn up in my experience, done it quite a few times and ranges from there and then to go back a week later.
v5 can take a week to 6 weeks, normally on the car withing a week at most as soon as you have the documentation though.

3/4 size
The font has to be normal UK style, anything else is ilegal. if theres any space to chap some of the plate off either side you can....if thats what you mean?

Cant seem to find any pics of what im talking about.
Basically its standard font, just that little bit smaller. So i would presume it would be illegal.
I dont like plates which have been cropped Colin, just doesnt look right IMO

Bought mine last monday, certificate turned up thursday morning
Then you just need V5, tax disc and MOT certificate, and take them to a DVLA office

Anything other than standard UK font, size & spacing is ilegal. You could try them but be ready to get caught, possibly fined. I cant be arsed with that hassle tbh!
I had mine chopped to size on my scooby...looked ok.

i love how you show mine smashed up
my font compared to legal is quite different, and quite illegal, but marks are slightly smaller even still... not sure then...
(edit: then you did the right thing...)
