You my friend are incorrect
You get taxed at BR only... no allowance... same goes for NI... so you immediately lose 22% and 11.1% of anything you earn
Generally means for the hassle of a few hours its desperately not worth it
CIH only

yeah, thats what he said, if u earn 10k a year in one job and earn 3k in the other, you'll be taxed the same on that 3k as you you would if the 3k was earned in over time at the first job

Yeah you cant have a allowance on more than 1 job, otherwise everyone would have 6 part time jobs & never earn over 5k from each
I think some folk are of the opinion that your taxed like 40% on a 2nd job which just is not true, its just at the norm rate.

No you wouldn't
Because in your main job you get allowances against it...
Its the NI exposure that gets you more as there are limits on it on your 1st job... income tax-wise, yeah I guess so but NI wise, no way josé!

Was fine at first, then the tax man catches up with you and its all from there
Got a letter last week saying I havent paid enough tax. Bloody jokers wait a year to tell me this!

In my first job, I earn under £5220 therefore don't get taxed or pay NI.
In my second job, I also earn under this and is still keeps me under £5220 for quite a while. However, I still get taxed at 20% in the 2nd job.
2nd jobs are good, if they pay well enough imho and it fits around working life.

IMO, it's better to live a little than have a lot.
Loose all those un-needed bills per month - i.e. expensive cars, mobile phone, sky subscription etc.

ive had a second job for about 3 years now, luckily its classed as self employed and seeing as i earn under around 5k from it i can claim exemption from NI and can get my tax from that job taken out of my main employment.

BR code on second income is only basically the same as earning more money at your first job though isn't it?
ie. Job 1 - £20k
500L for round figures so you're taxed 22% on 15k.
Job 2 - £3k at BR you're taxed 22% on it all
So Job 1 + 2 = £23k in, taxed on £18k
Identical to Job 3 which is £23k, 500L so taxed on £18k anyway?
Probably looks worse on paper as a smaller percentage of your headline figure hits the bank, but the maths of it are no different to earning it in one, two or five jobs?
Assuming I understand it correctly?
Edit - I'm overlooking NI - educate me
