i am aiming for near enough that spec and am already on my way towards it

i did the 1.4 to 1.6 conversion mate, it was easy conversion to do and was straight forward. Me and a mate completed it in my garage as it is simply a case of swapping the engines over unlike the c20xe where you have conversion kits, more complicated wiring etc.

i got my 1.6 for £300 with 45,000 with new bolts and gaskets. sold my 1,4 for £250 and did the conversion for free.

so it cost me £50 plus £100 to get it running perfect as timing was out.

1.6 conversion can be done for very little money

i know age doesnt matter but an engine with 120k on the clock and one with 50k on ure gonna see a difference surely as the engine has more wear on it, i dont think i can do either conversion if im honest but can buy a 1.6 sport and tune it futher or get a c20xe and tune after ive paid the £1500 for conversion like. The other option is just another car like a vts or gti or a far few options but want the suprise factor of the fast corsa that just out accelerated a sports car thinking 1.6 is a good option at half way, whether or not a c20xe wud be better i dunno but at moment im looking at buying 2 litre brakes and bilstein suspension for the 1.4 sport so leaves less work at point of the conversion, or can swap over to the 1.6 corsa aswell

Im in the same boat atm to mate, i duno weather i wana take out my X14XE into a X16XE or go all out and go for C20XE

But theres more surprise factor having a fast 2.0 corsa, but having a 1.6 kicking out 150BHP (or there about) is a WOW factor aswell! lol

dont matter m8 it all depends how easy/hard the engines life has been, if i had choice of a sweet running 120k xe or rought 30k x16xe i would have the 2.0

trust me 2.0's are wicked and mine has been very reliable indeed you will not regret it specially the rawness/torque

and forget the handling issues that is just an easy way for the small block lovers to have a dig at you when i truly believe a well tuned 1.6 could not leave me on a good twisty road and i will accept any challenge in my 2.0 xe

If you really want a 1.6 whats stopping you selling yours, buying a 1.6 sport and saving lots of money and time?
(sorry if this has been mentioned ive just skim read the thread)

I'd go for a 2.0 personally and ive had problems with mine

Have you ever been in / driven an XE corsa? my guess is if your even considering a 1.6 over a 2.0 then you can't have. It's quite mad really just how quick they accelerate and the smile factor is great when you blow the doors off a supposedly "fast" car

ide either buy a nice pug 106 gti (although they're quite pricey) or go all the way and do a c20xe conversion, a 2.0L corsa definately has more wow factor than a 1.6, and although the 1.6 conversion is cheap to do, the tuning definately wont be

But at the end of the day, If you're keeping up with CTR's or somthing upto 80mph odd then they're going to think it's a 2.0, then you tell him it's a 1.6 the look on their face is well worth it IMO
