I'll just top up as needed until im close to 100k then stick it into VW for them to rip me off.

Are Audi diesels PD engines then?

Whats different between my 1.9 golf & pop's 2.0 A4? Engines look much the same....similar power etc

I don't trust this longlife oil idea. I can apparently do 18,000 miles in my car without an oil change. Seems loads to me

8v's are better so I believe.

Old mans 2L is quite sluggish, while mine pulls like a steam train in every gear.

Colin, wahts your dad got?

My dad has a 140 2.0 TDi A3 on a 05 plate, done about 110k, serviced by audi every 15 or something.

We had a little "race" on a local dual carrageway, and mine beat him, I was edging away.

My old mans on longlife service, he had his 1st service at 19k miles. It uses a fair bit of oil, 1/2L every couple thousand miles. Mines 8v, 10k miles services, ive had to stick 1/2L of oil in & ive done 6 or 7 k miles.

There is no need to change the oil on one of these every 5k miles, can't see any benefit.

My octavia uses a litre every 10k and i thought that was bad

Not sure if its the same engine i just use shell derv oil i assume its long life although the octavia has variable service interval ie it decides when it needs a service and tells me on the computer thingy so it must test the oil with a sensor somehow!?

Lad at work has an A3 TDi 2.0 - uses a litre every 1200 miles and audi state this is acceptable

1.9 TDI's are 113 BHP and are now 16v

The 2.0 tDI is a better engien than the 170 IMO

Less lag, smoother delivery and better mpg

170 is all or nothing and noisey

Comon fault with the 2.0 TDI's is the heads - they crack on high milage cars

IMO the 130/150/160 PD engines are a better engine than the PD

Although VAG are going common rail now
