I know lots about it & im not even slightly interested in the forces or what they do. We shouldnt even be entering these war zones, UK's a tiny island what should we care whats going on in Afganistan or iraq.....leave them to kill each other!
When i joined up i didnt get told anything about not getting issued body armour.

One of the benefits is the best pension scheme in the country isn't it? And the wage isn't too bad from what i was told.
Do you not get the pension if you get wounded and discharged?
They know the risks when they decide to sign up, but they should atleast stand a chance with correct equipment

The old final wage pension scheme from the NHS is probably better than what the army get.

They knew the risks blah blah blah. It's a job someone has to do and they deserve the support of the public and the proper kit to do the job. It never seizes to amaze me how ungrateful some people are.

The hospital for wounded soldiers down south is ridiculous. Its essentially a facility for injured [permanantly and semi permanantly] soldiers to be rehabilitated.
They used to use the local swimming baths and close off a lane of it to help with physiotherapy especially for soldiers who had lost limbs.
A group of local people banded together to force the local authorities to ban the use of the pool by the centre as it was "offputting" and not "correct" for disabled soldiers to be swimming where young kids swim.
It's fucking horrendous, I support a charity which is raising money to build a custom physio pool at the centre for sole use by the centre. My dad is doing a 450mile bike trip to raise money for them.
I think the UK treatment of injured soldiers is disgraceful.
One of my best friends and Misuss's oldest friends served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia. When he was hit by shrapnel and a mortar in Afghanistan, he was bought back to base and operated on before being flown back to the MoD hospital in Birmingham. He lost approx. 2/3 of his blood and severed the main arteries in both his legs. He said Birmingham was disgraceful and dirtier than the field hospital in Afghanistan. He actually discharged himself and hit the gym everyday until he was back in the field 23 days after being shot.
The mail, the sun and the times all did an article on him - but hes not entitled to any benefits or compensation because he went back "to work". However another youth, who wasn't as badly injured, hasn't gone back and has been awarded £5000.
Really fair treatment;
Oh and to top it off, three weeks after getting back out there, he carried one of his guys out who had been shot, the guy ended up dying and in the process Nick ripped open the stitches from the operations he had in the UK. It took 2 days before a medic saw to him............
