will this effect insurance tho?

shouldnt do but you need to tell the insurance, and sometimes they will want an engineers report or similar showing the state of repair and what happened

It's worth what parkers says above at most.

How can you think a 6 year old 106 is still worth 5k?

Cat d means it's not worth as much to sell on.

Also means that somebody like me wouldn't buy it no matter how light the damage, although I know that is only my opinion.

It's not bull because I wouldn't buy a write off, I also wouldn't buy a high mileage old scrapper though.

Buy it for £2500, but only if you're not planning on selling it for years. By then, the value will be so low that you wouldn't notice the drop in resale value. IMO.
