Not really, most people use it like that. But if you know how to use it properly and take your time it has excellant results.

oh yeh without a doubt, just that too many people seem to think a quick run over with a rotary and some G3 will solve all their problems

Yeh exactly, got to be VERY carefill while using G3. Is far to easy to leave holograms and burn through paint. Went through the paint a couple of times on bumpers im afraid to say.

To be honest mate, sounds like you dont know what you are doing so buffing the car is very risky! Just stick with t-cut as thats a safe option or ask around for a good valeter on your are and pay them to do it is my advice.

If you've got a machine polisher / buffer you will find it a lot easier than doing it by hand.
But a good slightly abrasive polish followed up with a good couple of coats of wax will be a good start. You will then need to keep the polishing / waxing topped up from time to time to keep the colour.
I may be able to help you if not - see my post in classifieds

Dude, i would recommend a good going over with a mop with G3 compound then a finer polish and finish up with some decent wax
It's the only real way to do it.
If you don't have a mop then use extra finegrade G10 compound by hand.

If you get it mopped, make sure it's a reputable bodyshop that does it. I've seen some pretty bad jobs done before which despite making the paintwork look shiny, they've also buggered the paintwork and left lots of buffer trails.

for the sake of a couple of quid (£25 / £30) compared to £200 upwards for a mop id deffinantly give the meguires 3 step system ago you wont be disapointed, and were as with a cutting compund and polisher you cant go wrong with the meguires as in not gunna make the paint any worse
