I hate all dayers! Although I'm usually done by 7 and wish I'd gone out later instead!

Very true, I am definately less able to stay awake after more booze now

It all catches me pretty quickly now also. Not a pleasant thing not remembering and you need to make the decision to drink less as said.

It is possible, you just need to remember to keep thinking about it. 90% of the time I don't drink as much as I used to on nights out as just can't handle it

I'd say on an average night out now I'll have 10-12 drinks if starting at like 7.30 til 2ish.

you don't have to be sober, just not blind drunk, surely you feel the transition period, the point where you can tell you have had a drink?

Yes there is, and it's exactly how I posted.

You need to stop before you lose control...in your case six pints. All you need to do is stop drinking before the (your) point of losing control.

Easy, all about self control (I have very little)

Honestly, i've tried, it doesnt work in my case - 6 pints and I feel pretty normal leaving you with that whens the next pint coming. If I could control it as easy as that I wouldnt be sitting here with bust up limbs thinking about quitting.

No I dont feel the transitional period, I just wake up thinking shit, what happened last night. When I get to the point where I can tell i've had a beer is the point where i'm raring to go some more.

you must be lagging then, then it catches up with you quickly, personally i'd try to avoid higher strength lagers at all costs, grolsch, kronenurg, stella all knock the shit out of me after about 4 pints. Maybe even have a trip to the toilet in each bar, the lights etc means you take a second out to think if you are drunk or getting drunk etc.

You don't need to give up, just watch it more carefully and get rid of these stupid rules like having to drink what your friends drink. If they keep buying, they'll soon stop when you leave it on the bar. Bravado is expensive so it won't last long while no one is forcing it down your neck.

This is good advice, when im out in a club etc and the lights are dim i feel really sober. Go to the toilets and can tell im hammered

Also eat plenty before going out and through the day. Food is the key

Why not replace every second drink for a coke or something? Just pretend its got vodka or JD in it. That way you can still go out, drink with mates etc except you'll be able to laugh at other people who have had too much & make it home at the end of the night

If i want to remember a night out i stick to lager, just drink it untill I run out of money, 12-16 pints is on the money, we sometimes gor for a '20 pint challange' if were all on one, only with an early start though!

Recently I have been drinking everything! For example on sat, i had about 8 pints, half a bottle of rose wine and the hit the vodka and more lager in the club, was wankered to say the least!

Im not stopping yet, only 21, lots more to come.

Even with the best intentions, I couldnt go to the bar and ask for a coke coz i'll open my mouth and 'pint of lager' will come out. Either that, or the coke will be gone in 60 seconds and a beer will be lined up very soon after. I've decided anyway, i'm gonna lay off getting drunk for a few months and see how I get on in the summer.

Some other examples of drink related injuries are as follows:

Gashed my head open while in a drunken state when my mate tried to pick me up from a chair, I fell forward and fell like a deadweight into some pipework. (This was in New Zealand)

Fell through a window while drunk dancing on a table in a guesthouse, slit my wrist open very close to arteries and sliced my back open. (Cook Islands)

Drunk in New Zealand and found myself wandering into the mountains along a main road away from Queenstown where I was staying coz I got lost.

Many incidents of falling over and cutting my hands up.

Tried to ride my bike home and looked like I had just got out a warzone when I got home with my clothes in shreds and my bike pretty mangled.

These events have all happened in the last 18 months.
