By accepting the fine your admitting guilt. No point arguing the case now as you wont get anywhere. Local paper is prob your only realistic option!
Bring on the civil war!! haha

No I made sure of this, if I hadn't have took it there and then, it would have just come through the post

It's not a confession, paying the fine is a confession - which i've not yet done.

I would of thought you could refuse it , innocent until proven guilty and as they had no proof how could they prove you where guilty of said offence?

I never wear a seat belt after a nasty accident i had and it stuck and i nearly died. i always get pulled ive used that line when pulled by a panda car as they dont have video evidence, every time i get pulled by a traffic car they always just tell me off no fine lol

I've not accepted the fine.

I've got 30days to pay it or contest it. If i ignore it the fine goes up

The nearly dying because of the seatbelt is a once in a lifetime thing, not wearing one after that is just plain stupid imo.

What a stupid thing to say.

Is there an echo in here?

Fair enough they may have been off in what they did, but I personally couldn't be arsed going through the motions, as I said it's only £30 can't see the big fuss over such a little amount.

Forget about the money side of things, it's the fact that I had to stand at the side of the road for the best part of 30minutes looking like a fucking criminal to every fucker rubbernecking past - and then had to stand there and take a bollocking for something I didn't even fucking do - powerless to argue my case.

Our own police force are lying and stealing from the public.

Bullshit

I am not for one minute suggesting that they are in the right. At all. I'm on your side, yes I agree what they did was bollocks, but these days, the police seem entitled to do whatever they want.

The angle I was focusing on was that if you appealed against it, this would lead to hassle. Just seems easier to swallow hard and pay up.

Sorry for your misfortune mate.

Because "it's only £30" is a stupid thing to say? £30 is a sum of money, that he could do without spending.

I am annoyed at the principle of it all, Kyle said he was wearing a seatbelt and got fined!

It surprises me that you would say that when you have another post asking for "cheap bucket seats".

Visit the local police headquarters mate.

Most people will not go through the hassle of that unless they honestly believed they were not guilty of the offence.

Explain it to the sargeant there and that the stories between the coppers werent right and that you felt victimised ect...... if he doesnt play ball then say you will go to the local paper.

Worth a shot at least.

Like I say, I personally couldn't be arsed with all the hassle of it so would just pay it. Some people go out on a Sat night and piss £150 up the wall without batting an eyelid.

£30 is nothing. As for my post on bucket seats, what's that got to do with anything? They cost upwards of £250, this is a measly £30 fine.

As previously stated, I am not saying that the police are in the right, just that the hassle of trying to get the £30 back ie contesting the actions of the poilce would seem pointless for the amount of said fine.

I would also like to point out that I am not the only one in this thread who would just pay the fine.

i had this happen to me, copper walked over asked me to get out, i unplugged my belt to get out while he was standing there yet he still fined me, he was no older than 20. Then he started to accuse me that it wasnt my insurance it was under a different name which i know for a fact it wasnt seeing as i had the certificate on me at the time. Got his number and got my cousen whos a cop to run it through and turns out he was a special, which is voluntary, my cousen said you would probably win in court but i didnt have time to protest it so just paid up. But in know how you feel.

Would have told them to write the summons up - unless the spotters positively identified you by your vehicle's registration number, their evidence of 'blue jumper' is enough to introduce reasonable doubt that you were not the offender IMO.
