my 1983 mk1 golf 1.8 GTi has been very reliable, never broken down on me yet.

Dead battery as i didnt use it for like 4 weeks but when i put a new battery on it, it started first time!

Also about history, i have so much stuff about my car and the history even has the reciept of sale from 83.

Ever MOt its had, a hell of alot of parts invoices, services, tax disc, a big folder full of stuff!

Old cars have life to them and are run with passion and not a fecking computer, its hard going into my car and when i service it, i dont have to get the service light turned out, its doesnt tell me when it needs serviced, it doesnt keep buzzing things up at me and thats the things i love with cars, there cars u drive!

Not computers allowing you to do cerain things!

Unless u buy a shed for cheap and attempt to restore it

I paid twenty quid for a mk2 golf which didn't have a spot of rust on it, but had no tax or mot but full service history and completely original.

It had been sat on someones drive because the engine wouldn't run properly and then it wouldn't start.
New battery and the spark plugs put on the correct way and all it needed was a brake master cylinder for the M.O.T.
There are bargains out there.

It's only the GTIs/G60s/G40s/GTs/VR6s which are overpriced, the Drivers and all the normal models are priced properly.

People are willing to pay for the magic letters though, which is why they're expensive.

VW bulid quality cant be faulted.
80's chassis or not - its still brilliant compared to similar cars of the era.

Plus the club secne cant be bettered for general all roundness.

AGG engine

tallblock all the way

The other half as an AHF powered GT TDi - thats quite fun too.
