Also the price difference aswell.

SXI from £10k
VXR from £15.5k

Can get both of those a good bit cheaper than that...

Average price I saw when looking a little bit was around £9kish, give or take a few hundred.

Makes me laugh when people are suggesting he should get the VXR... he's 17 FFS, as if the guy would get insured on one, let alone afford the extra money they cost to buy in the first place!

And, if by some chance he did get one, and posted up showing it off, he'd no doubt get some comments saying it's silly fast for his age and he'll bend it round a tree within a week.

Why don't you rate it?

And where would you look? Really just looking for suggestions to open up the options a little bit

I think they feel badly made, the seats are too hard, suspension too hard, 1.2 engine is not powerful enough, personally I don't like the looks, too big for a small car.

Thats what I think anyway, personally i'd probably take a better look at a Clio or maybe a Punto Or a late Corsa C.

Staff discount will vary... I can buy anything for cost + £500, but different dealers will be different.

Theres a vauxhall offer to get an SXi for £179 a month... Apart from that I'll have one delivered for you..

Yeah I was looking at a Clio, Punto looks pretty nice too.

Think i'll go and take a look at the SXI and see what I think of it, completely different looking at it properly than at pics..get a good feel of the size and so on.

not being funny or insulting but is it not worth buying an older car for less, getting some no claims in it and waiting till you are 19 / 20 and then buying a better / newer car when you have had some experience etc?

It was neither funny or insulting, don't worry

And i've got experience in the things I need to, theres nothing new to experience, I don't drive like a dickhead (I have my days when i'm extremely fucked off and drive a bit aggressive but most do)

Dad offered to help me out get the car on finance and I pay it.

It's not as if the engine is like really big or anything so shouldn't be a complete fucker to insure

erm...sorry but your 17, been driving 3 months and you seriously believe you have learned and experienced all there is from driving?

what about when winter really set's in with the icy roads etc? you haven't experienced that yet.

i've been driving 1 year and 6 months now and i know theres so much more to learn still.

I didn't mean I know it all, i've driven in ice/snow/rain/dry. Driven on all types of roads there is and ofcourse I can imrprove loads and i'm not experienced at all compared to most road users.

Just meant that when it came to conditions and types of roads theres not much more I can learn.
