I think my 4wd tyre destroying piston melting fuel anhiliating turbo jap monster days are also over

cars like M3`s seem like a much more appealing idea these days.

Yep, I think people forget how old 51 regs etc. are!

Not that old - 6 years for a car that cost over 40k

and 90k over 6 years is 15k which is nothing

I wouldn't feel happy spending 17-18k on a 6 year old car with 70-100k miles on it personally! Despite if it cost 20k new or 60k.

I can see where Nik is coming from. I'd be the same. When you think you could have a BRAND NEW lesser car for that money with a 3yr warranty, etc.

I know, but resale value - I don't think there are many people out there who'll buy high mileage cars (over a few grand anyway). I know the car can handle it, it's just the resale issue - say if you chuck an extra 20-30k miles on it who's going to touch it?

well with a car like a bmw i dont see that u will have much resale issues. they are notorious for taking alot of miles on the clock and still performing fine.

I think people mostly just assume that. Not saying it can't but just because its a BMW does'nt mean it will do millions of miles faultlesly.

If the prices continue to drop the way they are, I think theres a risk that the M3 will become chav. I love these cars but it was only the other day that I saw an M3 driving down the local high street with the bass pumping and under car neons glowing. Made me feel physically sick.

That's why i'm gettin one

TBH If I had to get a Zafira just so I wasn't "chav" then I'd rather dig out the Burberry cap and start walking like I have a peg leg.

It's never understandable until you've had to live with one. Ace car in every way. It's just the image and attention it attracts

Not sure what has been said in this thread, but considering my dad's ownership, I wouldn't buy a cheap E46 M3. They are so expensive to repair, and it affects my perception of buying costs because I'd want low miles and FBMWSH.

For £13k-ish, I'd rather find a mint E36.

I had no choice in getting a people carrier. I now have 4 kids. IMO the Zafira was the best of the bunch so went for that. Lee_wee as for the Zafira being 'Chav'. I don't know how you work that one out?!?! Modified yes, but not chav. Only mods I have done have been practical mods, i.e. power increase, brakes, suspension etc..

we are taling 16k 18k though

Personally I would not have an issue buying an M3 with 80k on clock

They will contine to fall in price and your likely to take a bigger hit on a model with fewer miles as they are quite a bit more expensive

I think the only way your likely to get badly stung on depreciation is buying one of the high 20, low 30k cars out there. Anything around the 20k mark shouldn't lose too much over the next couple of years and IMO is worth the extra couple of grand over a shoddy early basic model. Don't forget, the new model is still very new and many are selling 2nd hand at list price so this won't effect the 2nd hand market in the 20k price range for a while yet.

thats why they do the STI SPEC D, no high rear wing and much more subtle body styling.

was just about to post that - a lad at our place just got a 51 plate with 90k miles on it for 15600

Thats a touch over retail, although what spec has he got?
I would mirror what has been said before this post. I wouldnt be happy spending nigh on £16k for a motor with 90k on the clock. Its my perception and standards that make that, nothing else.

If I was to buy one, I wouldnt want to scrape in with one - I would have to be happy with every aspect of it.
