Every time a thread like this is made, at least 3 people say "Shouldn't have been speeding". As if you have NEVER went over the speed limit As Paul said, the Autobahn isn't full of pileups and fatalities. Isn't the point in mobile camera's to slow cars down safely? If they are disguised as another Van, then that just proves the point that they are just to make money!!

Basically eck, the kid's probably too young to drive, or only just got his license...
Expect a 'I've just crashed my car from going too quick around a wet roundabout' or 'I've just been nicked from speeding' post from silent_thunder in the near future... Then I'll be there to post in his post
'oh well, you shouldn't of been spending then, hope you learnt your lesson'.
What a thundercunt

Imo motorway speed cameras are a waste of time and the money would be better spent on more Traffic Police Officers. Speed is not the main factor in most accidents on motorways it's distance between vehicles that causes accidents. I know that Traffic Officers are not thought of that highly however they are not a one trick pony in the same way as speed cameras are. They also have a thing called discretion. Have more traffic bobbies in unmarked vehicles and let them get in amongst the lane 3 tailgaters and watch the accident stats fall.

I don't speed, don't have any need to. stick to the speed limit ad you have nothing to fear or worry about. I'm not saying I've never broke the speed limit but I don't do now.
I personally think they should hid all cameras and put more up particularly in 30mph limits.
the main road near me is a 30. people do a lot lot faster and there is a play park near the road.

100mph is considerably faster than 70.
I think there are certain conditions under which 100mph is relatively safe but this is by no means the rule.
There are enough people who can't drive at 70. There are also enough hazards that mean the circumstances under which you can do 100 are very limited.
I'm also curious as to how, under the current law, you can feel safe at 100. Current road conditions do not permit this in the vast majority of cases.
I don't for one minute think a 106 is better built than a 2007 Fiesta. I think this is more down to driver perception and trepidation based upon that actual measured risks that exist than whose car ownz the world.

So I guess once you have your C20LET up and running you'll be sticking to the speed limit
The Cumbria 'Safety' Cameras are a joke. They are quite hard to pick out now. Wouldn't be suprised if they had been the cause of an accident.

I got banned for doing 110mph on motorway. I stick to the speed limits now in light of being banned.
Just pains me when people post on a forum saying 'kin bar stewardin camera flashed me etc at xx mph.
Is it the cameras fault? How can you have a rant about cameras when if you weren't speeding in the first place you wouldn't have been flashed/caught etc.
When I got banned for 110, I didn't post on a forum saying stupid coppers etc because it was MY OWN FAULT. nobody else to blame....
My 2p.

This assumes you agree with the law as it stands.
I personally don't.

But the entire point in cameras is so people are aware of them and reduce their speed. If the camera's are hidden, then it makes me believe it is a money making scheme, contrary to what the Government say.

Speed camera's are for making money. They do not reduce accidents. They probably cause more IMO.
I'm not saying there shouldnt be speed camera's or law enforcements.
They should just stop hiding in bushes with speed guns.

the point of cameras is to catch people speeding, the safety thing was invented because people complained about them making money. the fact still remains there is a speed limit and wither you agree with it or not is irrelavent.
if they are hidden this would catch more people and hopefully make people stick to limits, it would also stop people slowing down at the last minute. the are doing speeders along said road above this afternoon which was nice to see. they catch a fair few drivers along kennishead road
