They shouldn't tailgate no matter what speed you're doing. And if you read the Highway Code/Theory Test books. One question will go something like this:
If someone is following you from really close behind i.e. tailgating, should you?
A) Speed up
B) Slow down to increase the gap between you and the car infront
C) Put on your hazard warning lights to warn the driver
D) Pull over
You'll fins the correct answer is B

I totally agree - but it is the point that this was a taxi driver, and for all I know, he could have hard a car full of people including young children.

then proceeded to bworp off.

Or maybe he should continue to drive at the speed he finds acceptable for the conditions... just an idea.

I think it say's he slowed down to 25 AFTER the idiot was tailgating
I'd report him, done this a couple of times to cunts in work's vans. Had this african chav giving me the wanker sign in London once, saying he's going to kill me etc. Little did he know my Brother was on the phone to his company at the same time (holding phone out window) after he'd given them the reg plate etc. It was either that and the fact his actions reflected badly on the company - wonder what happened to the cocky prick

Nothing will happen, mates a taxi driver and he gets away with a lot of things to get the town center emptied, its like an unwritten rule so he says.
I got tailgated on my bike before, pissing down rain, and ive not long passed the test. Puts the shits up you when you know you havent got a metal box protecting you from tossers.

Im not looking to create any further debate, but; if the visibility is poor and you know that the conditions are wet and slippy etc, then why the hell would you put the anchors on a bit? - to the extent where you cause his car to 'dive'
Are you not also expected to drive to a standard similar to a reasonable qualified driver? Putting the anchors on and causing the front of his car to 'dive' was a bit daft really IMO
It could have caused an accident.
On another note, i wouldnt bother wasting your time reporting him, nothing will come of it.

I tap the brakes in my car if someone does it to me too. They soon back off, if they go into the back of you its there fault for being too close.

Fair enough, im not saying ive not done it myself - tapping the brakes or flicking side lights on.
Wouldnt really tempt having someone run into the back of me if the conditions were similar to what they are atm.

Well, saying his car dived was probably bit of an exaggeration, probably my car moving to be fair.
Probably won't report him in the end, like people have said, might be his livelyhood.
I wouldn't have even considered posting this thread if it was a random member of the public, but this was a taxi driver, so at the time I thought it was pretty unacceptable.

Waste of time, he didn't actually hit you or cause a crash or any damage.

Good on you for wanting to act on it mate, if a lot more people reported things like this then the roads would probably be a lot safer, unfortunately as others have said though I doubt anything would come of it if you did report it.

You're not meant to drive at 25 in a 30 and slam your brakes on to piss somone off, just like you're not meant to tailgate.

Granted, you aren't supposed to slam on brakes - something could have run out in the road in front of me though.
BUT, you are supposed to slow down if someone is following you from too close behind, to increase the gap between you and the car in front.
