TBH i'd much rather spend a few hours slaving away in the workshop. Thats a pretty good workout, and your actually getting something done. Not just lifting things and putting them down again for the sake of it.

Everything in life apart can be deemed as pointless though, alpart from breathing, eating, drinking and making babies. So its all personal preference.
I go to the gym to exercise my heart, no matter what your body shape you can't see the condition of your heart, so it's good to try and keep it in shape. THere are other reasons too.
