Everything has been done, nothing is "wow!" new now.

true. I think the only shock value left would be to bring someone back from the dead or clone someone

I think the next big wow will be a completely clean, cheap and renewable energy source. Followed by interplanetary travel.

Joke is... people take the internet for granted like we always had it. But in my opinion, the internet in itself and the technologies that allow us to have the infrastructure and content available to us today, is as important invention as the original telephone or first television....

But these people were hailed saviors, amazing ground breaking inventions...

The internet on the other hand, is just something that sorta everyone takes completely for granted. Who here (without googling it) can name the inventors / pioneers of the internet?

I think in some way's it's not that people aren't inventing ground breaking things anymore... It's just that we have come to expect development, so that when something 'new' appears, we don't go WOW! we just expect it and buy it.

Even computer chips... if u think about the development over the years, it's crazy. The chip manufacturers inventing new technologies etc to provide faster, reliable, more energy efficent and cooler running chips. Yet we don't go wow when a new one is released, we just expect it.

I basically don't think you'll get that new 'WOW what a break through invention' with anything now, as A ) most things are an advancement on previous technology and B ) people expect by nature that we advance ... We don't hit brick walls these days... We find solutions.

What do i mean by this?

Well take music for example, todays music seems to be produced to fit into a market, and be mass produced. This is fine, but somewhere in the mix music is not being made as good as it was 10 years ago. Something is lost, like its not being made with any heart, but simply because a record label asks them.

Now take computer games, yes there are good games, but there is nothing revolutionary like used to be the case 10 years or so ago. Again i feel its down to the makers trying to fit in with the market instead of producing good stuff. They are trying to cater for everyones taste, and again something is missing.

Even cars, like computer games, there are good cars, but nothing that really gets you excited like an escort cossie did years ago. No cars are individual, they all seem to lack personality and are made to a mass produced market, something is missing, there is nothing about any particular car that makes it amazing (apart from some supercars, but im talking about main dealers here)

do you see where im coming from? basically i think the market and industry is shaping things which is having the effect of it not being as good as it should be, or wouldve been years ago

It's nothing new Steve, manufactured pop has been around since the sixties, most aspects of the media are about making money and always have been TBF. As far as videogames go there are still new ideas around such as the Wiimote.
