funny this, I got pulled for doing 50 ish in a 30 going through a village in my arden blue corsa sport the other day as well and the police officer did exactly the same; didn't give me a ticket. As was said, if they have noone with them, there's no proof and if there is no video evidence then it's your word against there's. I've learnt my lesson anywho; don't be a silly boy

If he's on his own at the side of the road you can't be prosecuted for speeding unless he had some form of speed measurement device.

However

If he had been in a car then the car's speedo can be used to corroborate the individual Officer's opinion that you were speeding. It doesn't need to be a camera or VASCAR. That method is used rarely but still can be used. I know it's an irrellavance in this case but just information for anyone reading.

Im lucky, been let off 3 times for speeding Not something im proud of, but it happens, not loads over the speed limit like. Only 6 months to go, then im out of the "6 point" thing.

I was doing about 70 in a 40 not long ago (temporary speed limit on a stretch of dual carriageway, everybody ignoring it including me), the female officer let me off with a warning because I was a 'nice lad'.
