Heres the thread from SN, so you can read all about the day and discover what it meant to all the members.

http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general-1/638223-photos-mccrae-convoy.html

were they invited? did they ask the family if they wanted/minded them being there?

It was a public memorial for any of his fans who wished to pay their respects. There was over 20,000 people at it.....mostly rally fans regardless of what they drove!!

SIDC done a similar thing for Richard Burns, Drive from John o Grotes to Lands End meeting up in convoy to raise money for the charity his wife wanted all collections to go to.

Not being funny but if theres a huge screen outside projecting a montage to the public, its not like they werent wanting people there.

I'm not having a dig, everyone pays their respects in their own ways.

apparently the best car he drove was the impreza, he loved it iirc?

the guy was a legend and looking at the subaru site it meant alot to them to do that. i am sure it meant alot to the family to have alot of people paying tribute to a top bloke.
think some people should have a bit more tact before replying on this thread and be a bit more respectful!

i dont give a crap if it was a public memorial, that just means they could be at the actual event, not make a nuisance out of themselves the whole way there with convoys, meeting in car parks etc etc.

why is it only impreza owners doing this? Its like they have the only right to convoy.

why wouldnt it be acceptable for me to organise a fabia convoy (not that i would)? he didnt drive a fabia no, but then he also probably didnt hang around in public car parks, or take up 3 lanes of the motorway because of someones stupid idea.

I left a message on the official tribute site, im sure that meant more to the family that cruising down some roads

Steve i find your comments totally out of order this was an oportunity for people to show what Colin meant to them and how much he will be missed.

Your last post also states he did not drive a Fabia wrong he did, may i suggest you get your facts correct and more importantly keep stupid opinons to your self.

I have been involoved with rallying many years and could not believe the shite you put on here to the degree i felt i had to respond.
