The police shouldnt have told him that what he was doing was an offence , without checking. So yeah they made a mistake there.

But if some guy is just standing filming something in the street then I think they were right to check it out , because who knows what else he might have filmed ? Sounds to me like a timewaster just looking for trouble.

like said, the police should have queried with big chief pig first before spouting something that was completly invalid

As for the laws on filming, you can happily film soneone/group of people but you have to get their permission for it be shown to a public audience. Only when people under the age of 18(could be 16) that you need permission to film as well as for the footage to be shown. Thats what i remember anyways, but like said its all a bit of a grey area when kids aren't involved.

haha I honestly do hate most of the police force.

The other night i got pulled over in town. The officer said i had a taillight out. Fair enough, i check, bumped the light and it came on. He then asked my details, checked my tax/insurance/tyres, then started asking
"what brings you to aberystwyth?"
"are you a student?"
"where do you work?"

fucks sake?!
What ever happened to "ok, make sure the light works, thanks bye"

I was with my dad in his golf once when the police pulled him over:
"You've got a tail light out there, can I have your details please?"
Dad - "You've got a headlight out"
*the officer checks*
"Okay then, off you go."

fagget.

when they filmed people on trigger happy T.V, they never told them about it once the cameras went away so thats cant be right.

usually you can get away having boards/signs up saying that filming is taking place in this area and if you dont want to be filmed, sod off. Thats how i've got around it in the past. Depending how big the project is, you have to the let local authorities know anyways and it usually makes the local rags etc.

Like i say though, where kids are involved it's a completely different story, infact even at school xmas productions etc, if a parent doesn't what their kid filmed then all cameras have to be switched off until their kid is well and truely out of shot etc.
