cant buy cigs until 18
cant smoke while driving
cant eat chips and burgers in school
cant get a job becuase of the polish
cant get into most clubs until 21
basically, until you turn 21, you are not in control of your own life. its a dictatorship. be queing for bread like russia in the 60's and 70's soon.

And while the parents continue to undermine law and justice in this country, the problem will remain.
Shops will be fined for selling to under 18s, I see no reason to not fine parents or anyone else who facilitate the purchase.

how do you prove they are buying them for children?
did your mummy never rent you an 18 certificate video when you were 13 or so? fail to see the difference really

when i worked in a supermarket, we used to operate a scheme where if a mum and son/daughter came in with them and the mother attempted to purchase fags/booze and their son/daughter was not of the legal age also, they would be refused it.
they can also be fined 5k iirc if anyone catches them purchasing it for kids and giving it to them outside the shop.

Becauase the culture should be that if in doubt, the purchase is not made. This not about fighting the system, this is about children seeing what is available to them or not.
If you want cigarettes and alcohol, buy and consume them in private away from your children.
And no, my parents would not have dreamed of hiring me an 18 video. They also didn't permit underage drinking or smoke or take drugs.
Quite by accident, I'm not a drug-taking smoker drunkard.

So just because you've gone to Tesco after you've picked your kids up from school, you must be buying a bottle of wine for them to drink, and you should go back another day, after finding someone to look after your kids?
The kids will just get random people on the street to buy stuff for them, the same as they do with bottles of cheap wine when they're 14.

if they banned it outright there would be public outcry, human rights or whatever. but because it only affects a small part of the population who find it hard enough to voice opinions as it is, they are ignored

at the end off the day kids will still smoke whether you have to be 18 or 16 to smoke.this ban will make no diffrence imo.
Making the age limit 18 isnt going to make a 16 year old think hmmm i better give up because its illegal to buy them for a few years lol
This goverment is so backwards no wonder this country is in such a state.

That is a fucking stupid rule, tesco pissed me right off with that, it was my mums birthday, went buying her a card, chocolates, and a bottle of wine, asked for my ID, yet wouldnt serve me because i could of been getting it for my girlfriend who was 17 at the time.

i was always allowed to drink the odd beer from when i was about 13-14. oddly, i dont drink any alcohol and havent done since i was about 22-23.
stop kids doing things and they do it. allow them, the thrill goes and they have no interest
