Sounds like a big fuss over nothing then. It's not like he gave the bloke the statement or anything.

Mostly to agree with what has been said.

Unorthodox and I might go as far as unprofessional but I would struggle to see where there's a DPA breach.

I do think that your friend disclosed too much information to Rick but I'm not clear how much damage is actually done with regards processing, ie. what is Rick going to do with the facts? Very little I would imagine.

I'm on a mailing list through work, I'll post it on there and see what they make of it.

No, not breaking the dpa at all

If he knew the persons name already then thats nothing special.

Tbf who doesn't have a credit car.

When she signed the contract she probably put down a contact email e.g. wendy@virginmedia.co.uk so no one has to be a genius to work that one out

Basically tell your mate to finish the transaction and let them kick up a fuss, end of the day his mate/woman x's co worker isn't going to drop him in shit in court.

Over blown crap tbph

Is that against data protection?

This one is a little easier - yes this is very bad.

Last post makes a very valid point about the data collection not being adequate in the first place, which is also a breach.
