And thats exactly my reasons.

Who cares about people at school, its rare people keep friends anyway, most move away, go to college/uni, start their own lives.

I am close to 2-3 friends from school, the others i couldn't give a rats ass about.

Would rather bring my children/child up to be kind, respectful, full of commen sense, and not have to fear whether they are going to say the wrong word and get stabbed for it.

After watching Donnas little brother grow up and go to uni this weekend, and the stories and videos he used to tell/show me on his phone, i'll be very cautious about what route to send my possible kids down.....

Most "kids" don't start discovering themselves (their true selfs, not affected by who/what is around them and conforming to that) until their very late teens/early 20's....

I hated school, always. I enjoyed college, they treated you with more respect and like adults. School for me was a complete waste of time.

Its not a fact about keeping friends from school, its more about them learning how to communicate with others and actually make friends.

You cant wrap your kids up because their is a danger, or you'll never let them do anything.

Pishwallop. Start them off young and get them involved in anything they are interested in (football, rugby etc, or hopefully karting or pocket bike racing ) then they can communicate fine. Its how you teach the social skills. Something vastly lacking in todays society.

No-one has to agree with me, how you bring up your own children is up to the parents.

I agree with the last line, but IMO, school isn't ALWAYS the best way.

If part of the reasoning behind not letting your kids go to a school is down to safety then I seriously doubt letting them go to football, rugby, youth clubs, whatever is going to be any better.

If you can't handle school then you FAIL at life pure and simple, if the school is shit and full of thugs send them to another 1.

I wouldnt choose to home school my children just for the sake of it, but if like others have suggested, they were suffering at school then yes i would consider it.
However home schooling isnt as simple as following the basic curriculum at home, you need to make sure you're covering all aspects of a childs development & it goes so much further than just english maths & science.
I'm a qualified Nursery Nurse so I have a good understanding of the early years curriculum & key stage one so I could probably home school a child myself through the primary school years. However I dont think I'm smart enough to cover key stages 3 and 4, i barely managed them at the time let alone 12 years later

i work in a private school and some of the children have been home schooled, mainly the japanese but have come into the school in year 2 and records show that they know a lot more than the other children. Theyre young enough to make friends easily though and it doesnt appear to have affected them socially or in any other way apart from putting them slightly ahead of the other children. Like i said though they are young so its a lot easier than starting school at 11 or 12.

I know one guy who was home schooled who's at our office 2 days every other week and he is by far the cleverest guy i have ever met...he runs rings around anything anyone says, and he never went to school.

He's fluent in pretty much every coding language and owns 2 companies...and does work for us at a rediculous cost every day !

Boarding school FTW.

Ahh acronym explained.

Boarding school is only remotely good if the kid can look after themselves....

I was put in one at 9 years of age...I had no idea about personal hygiene etc...

It wasn't pleasant for me or any other of the boarders, the folks had a good time in the sun earning the £££ though.

Ive not forgiven the folks for putting me into boarding school.

Given the lasting effect on me and my sister from going to boarding school so young.....

I would never EVER* send my kids to a boarding school.

I was at boarding school with kids that would like to have your folks/parents clean their shoes for them.

Yes your rents have a nice gaff....kids of sultans and princes of the saudi royal family live on a different plain unfortunately

Because your not distracted by other kids who ruin the classes. Everyone has one of them, or more, in their class.

Home schooling means the child HAS to pay attention.

I wouldn't home teach myself, I would hire a qualified teacher. I would teach the child other skills, social skills, life skills, and all the important stuff to get yoy through life...

Like, money, how to maintain a house, how to go about bills, the general life skills school will never cover.

As said, i really honestly think i'd have done a lot better at early ages if i'd have been home schooled. And given the harshness of today, its something I would definatly consider. Just depends how much worse things get...
