Do what you want Paul and fuck everyone else, only you know whats right for you.
People who dont know about uni can't judge and any judgement they make isn't accurate anyways so dont worry
Good luck though

PS - as i have no experience of uni i would like to add my brother has just started and i think the course he is doing is a waste of my parents money and hes only doing it because my parents are paying for it - if he had to pay it would be different.
Although i have reserved faith in him so i hope he sticks at it the tax dodging lazy arsed monkey!

i used to be a student - studied computer science for 4 years (placement inc). I also went to college for 2 years before that so have done 6 years of higher/further studies
Whilst i was at uni many of my non-uni mates gave me grief... the usual "tax dodger.... dosser etc".
My uni life was full of stress, long hours and hard work for 90% of the time. I guess this was down to the course being fairly difficult and we had shit loads of coursework and exams!
I know there are much easier courses. Many of my uni mates chilled during their degree whilst i was slugging it out
Two years on and being in a full time job... I take my hat off to those studying difficult degrees! however, there a way too many mickey mouse courses out there which is wasting resources and tax payers money
dosser

For the first two years i admit to doing nothing at uni. I did the minimum i could to get by. Final year i had to work if i was to pass. Me and one of my mates spent the last 6 days working straight. Another mate laughed at us He's back this year to re-sit.
My placement i thought was a complete waste of time. Maybe it was in the long term but it has helped with some interviews in terms of what i've done. The girl there now is saying it was a complete waste of time but she's going into teaching last i heard so will be of great help to her as the role was within a school.
Was chatting to a lad who's doing his teacher training. He said if you want a social life at all then not to do teacher training.

hah this sums it up for me, being on computer science myself... It's fucking hard graft. Full of stress. Surrounded by people dossing at uni on other courses...
On reflection - I can see why people who arn't at uni go 'fucking dossers' as - I personally feel so many people go to uni and do pointless degree's for the sake of it to doss. They have an easy course, easy exams, very few lectures and just party it up and get debt... Then when finished can't get a job and end up working somewhere unrelated to their degree for not much money....
... These people definately give student's a bad name

I have to disagree on the Computer Science thing, I found it quite easy and still had a life, and I did OK jobwise afterwards.
If it gets to you then just take consolation in the fact that you don't feel that it's true.

I couldn't have got my job without going to uni, and now I can proudly give the people who accused me of being a dosser the big middle finger.

Now everyone knows that's a lie Ash. You can get any job without a degree, you just need experience. Ask anyone who has never been to uni and has never even thought of going to uni and they'll tell you that!

I used to take the piss out of students the whole time I was at uni. I hated the way that people that were doing seriously shit degrees thought they were something special.
I also worked two jobs whilst studying for a physics degree, one of which was nights and still I didnt fail one module or exam all the way through my 3 years there, yet there were people there that had so much spare time it was unreal and didnt have shit to pay as mummy an daddy did it all for them and they dropped out half way through.
The irony is that I shall be starting my new job in a week at loughborough uni.

I didn't go to Uni but still managed to get myself a good job. Never been one for schools/college etc. always preferred to just work.
90% of the people I work with have been to Uni and they do earn more. But then they are doing more complex things than me and it does not interest me at all!

My girlfriend is at uni doing Law, and my god the work she has/does is mad, theres loads of it, And I wouldn't have a clue where to start.
So I respect the people that go to uni and try and get decent grades and do something with there life.

When you did it - it was probably BBC micro's and doing BBC Basic (joke)
It's possible though Ian, different universities have different sylabuses... and due to when you did your degree and when I did mine, it's slightly different.

Yeh but 99% of places won't hire you without a degree, so how do you get the experience?
