1.4 8v SRi has 82bhp, 1.4 16v SRi/Sport has 88bhp.
I've owned both and the 8v is the better engine as standard.

VTR easily. They are very chavvy cars but that aside they are very good cars and quite quick for the insurance group.

yeah the 1.4 will be noticably quicker due to its spoiler lol, kidding. but really, the 1.4 is quicker (least slow) and sounds far nicer with induction kit/ performance exhaust i think the 1.2 8v is about 56bhp, 0-60 in roughly 5minutes!! haha

A 1.2 8v is 45bhp is it not? An SRi will feel so much quicker but you will soon be wanting something quicker. The VTR is a better car in every performance aspect tbh, and they are cheap to insure as well.

NOW HOLD ON A MINUTE!
1.4 VTR? They are 1.6 8v. If you are referring to the 1.4 west coast, it is 75bhp and probably slower than any 1.4 corsa.

I know
Bascially, single point injection sucks balls.
The 1.4 SRI engines are one of the best vauxhall did IMO, nova SRI's are very quick indeed, love them

Surely you would only need to swap the bottom end?

It would be a lot of work for a novice, just to get 82bhp. Tbh you might as well save up for a bigger engine, or if you want an 8v, get one from a nova GSi/GTE.
Edit: Or a 2.0 8v

TBF, the SRi is better in more ways than just the engine.
The brakes and seats for example.
Just buy an SRi, don't bother swapping engines over unless your current Corsa is totally unique and you can't swap things about to a new car.

Ill be having an SRI or nova GSI engine in mine if I keep it long enough, ive already got mine beyond SRI spec, bar the actual engine.
A fair bit harder to go from a SPI to a MPI, due to the fuel lines etc. Quite an easy conversion tbh besides that tbh.

Exactly, for the price you'd pay to get someone to do it you could sell your corsa and just buy an SRi. As Robin said, it's a better car all round.

GM one has an Irmscher stamp on it, the fake ones are raised, as are the Irmscher ones with a brake light.

The normal SRI/GSI/Sport spoiler sits flush with the roof, but the irmscher version is raised up a little.
