i can get mint vectra cdti with bugger all miles for that money, but there just seems to be nothing but shit in the vag range for the budget

VW's are expensive. I remember comparing the car I would have got from VW if I got a Polo and my Fiat. I wouldn't have even got a flip out key or a radio on the Polo

But they are built to take it, go and drive one and you will not notice. I drove a fabia tdi that was 2 years old and done 86k (not motorway miles, as was his personal car and his instructer car aswell so no easy life) and it was absolute solid, never spent a penny on it
