Chuck yourself in at the deep end, you should burn some calories trying not to drown lol.
Sticking to a strict diet is harder than most think, most of my spare time is consumed by sorting food out, and actually eating it (every 3'ish hours)

I'd go down there first, maybe try out the equipment. If it's been a while you'll ache like fuck after your first session for a week anyway.

get doing some cardio as that will get your fitness back up and get rid of some of the fat you think you have!!

If you want to take it further and tone then have a good look at your diet and sort that out. And then weights will help out, not heavy ones though as that will build more than tone. Do around 3 reps of 10-15 with weights you can manage. The gym should show/tell you all this though.

Stop eating crap foods, dont eat complex carbs past 3pm (unless thats a day that you will be training) then have some within an hour after training.

Train 3-4 times a week, cross trainer, some rowing, running.

for your abs , do some crunchs and sit ups, possibly weighted crunchs aswell.

if you follow it and do a training plan and a diet plan you will notice changes within 2 weeks.

It's a bit optimistic to say she'll see changes in 2 weeks... if she was an obese 24 stone monster then yeah maybe... these things take time.

I'll second that. Im swimming between 2 and 3 miles a day, 5 days a week (all front crawl and a mile takes me about 28 minutes). Im having a bowl of cereal for breakfast then swimming at 8am, usually some form of meat for lunch or maybe a sandwich, then another bowl of cereal at about 5pm before going swimming at 6, then either nothing or a smoothie when I get back. I know I have lost weight and am starting to tone up, but to be honest im surprised by the amount of effort its taking for the results im getting.
Don't you just hate skinny people who dont exercise and eat what the hell they want whenever they want
