Right....
We got the ferry from Dover to Dunkerque (SP) Beacuse we were going with e30zone lot from all round the country. So we all met at maidstone at 4am to head down to get the ferry
Its just around 800 miles each way from chester to the ring and vice versa I think.
Check on http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/calendar.html for the opening times and dates so you can plan your trip properly.
Beacuse there was 25 of us we stayed ina private country house with huge garages including mechanics pits etc 
The guy who owns the country house also owns the Hotel Nordeschlief (sp) which is the main hotel for ring goers
Food and drink is dirt cheap over there! The main costs are petrol and laps. It works out cheaper to by lap tickets in a block. Like 8 laps at a time instead of buying individual lap tickets.
Get yourself the german recovery thing aswell. Its ADAC or something. They will recover you off the ring should you stuff it! And if you do stuff it prepare to bend over and get your wallet out!

I was there last week, planning to go over again in early sept i think! best holiday ever.
We did the Dover to Dunkerque crossing (2 hours on the boat)
Once you get off the boat its an easy drive on some lovely straight smooth roads. Its 279 miles from getting off the boat to the ring. About 4-5 hours.
You will love it, its car/bike heaven over there.

my b/f is going in August, a group of them from a vaux site..i cant remember who it is now! but hes geting his car mapped out there, whats the name of that place????? ! i really should find out more.. lol

Norfolk Line ship, leaving Dover on Friday 3rd August at 6am, arriving at Dunkerque at 9am, then returing from Dunkerque on Sunday 5th August, to Dover at 6pm arriving at 8pm. £116 quid 
All amongst it.
