I've just finished uni, not even applying to graduate jobs. I've applied for 6 jobs thus far and been knocked back by 2 without even an interview
4 out of 6 isnt bad, had responses from the others ?
Nope not yet but i only applied on the 28th June so there's time yet

And i agree topshot
I started working at an IT company as a Senior Buyer & like you I got bored easy & couldnt see myself advancing any futher within that company then I starting doing research and looking to go into sales I now work at TNT (delivery company).
I knew nothing about the company. All I knew is that my previous employer had this orange and white van that used to collect & leave a trailer overnight for delivering their parcels
I saw vacancies in my local jobs paper & I applied for Account Manager job, but got knocked back due to no sales experience, I was then offered the Sales Support role - which was basically the same job without the commitment of "managing an area" so I accepted.
After 6 months of hard graft I got promoted to Account Manager, now in the role for just nearly a year. It's a very challenging job - but very rewarding..

It would be a good plan to go round handing your CV in in person at the garages.
It's showing initiative and you never know, they might have just been about to pay to advertise for a position and you come walking in
