Something like a Caterham would be cheap to run so not all quick cars are expensive as said. I would also die a boring death if I had to drive a Golf every day.

If you can aford it as in you don't need to worry about mpg / insurance etc then yes it is worth it, hence why i still have my 106 as i can't afford to run a subaru / evo 4 properly as the running costs are alot and you need to service them regularly etc.

Its definatly worth it if you can afford too, but I would'nt try running a quick or quite quick car if I was on a budget or was nearly broke.

Hi Lads, glad to see you've been putting a lot of thought into this topic I currently have been asleep and only just woken up and read it now..... (12:28)
I understand that it would be good if you had a fast car and loads of money & thats probably 1 of the only ways to do it... but even then you will be regarded as a posh or "higher class" piece (god knows how many times I've seen old men with a Scooby STI )
I just feel gutted because I am only 19 and by the time I could afford to get a decent car and have lots of years no claims I am going to be about 30+ but even then I will be probs looking at having kids so there's no bloody point!
I think the best option is to have 2 Cars... something like a 2ltr Golf TDI for in the week (travelling to work etc) and having a sporty car on the weekend (Honda S2000 etc)
Therefore you can still have fun but only drive the sporty car on the weekend on "Weekend" insurance....
God I Love writing essays! (can you tell )

And another thing you get with having a nice sports car - people are always trying to race you... (not coming from personal experience of course ) which will then mean you rant the shit out of it and then watch the petrol drop!!!!

When you get older mate your realise it's far more satisfying letting them burn off in the distance thinking they've 'blitzed' you No need to prove you have a quick car!

I cant afford to run a fast petrol car. If I could then I would!
Would have to be something like an RS4 though as would prefer to go a little bit slower and have some luxury!
