What a silly thing to say! That depends on how much performance he wants, but a FMIC improves things greatly, you hold boosts a lot longer and it will still peak at a reasonable figure in the summer.

fmic wont mean it holds boost longer it just makes the charge cooled air cooler

to hold boost longer you need to play with wastegate times, or fit a manual bleed valve

heat soak is defo noticeable on the standard SMIC in the warmer months.

Just have revo stage 1, forge recirc dv and dynatwist CAI on the leon, will add miltek sports cat/downpipe and supersprint zorst then thats it. hopefully about 220bhp/260 lb/ft ish then. Cant justify the few k it will cost to push the 300bhp mark, would never get the power down anyway.

A FMIC is vital when you go any further than stage 1.

shut up fool, I would go with the advice of someone who has tried and tested it rather than someone who is going on theory.

FMIC is only vital when trying to push to silly power with a large turbo. You stick on an FMIC after a remap and you will be closer to finding osama bin laden than you will be to increasing your power. The K03/03s turbo just dont produce the boost high enough in the rev range to make it worth the extra lag you get from it. Ive been through it all, spent all the money, tested new parts out for companies so now ill share my experience with others. If you dont like it cupra steve, keep quiet

Also, banana???????????????

It was gold

ok it was yellow according to audi

sorry to hijack the thread Reedy, but i've seen some of these fairly cheap but with 100,000+ miles on. Now, are these a good bargin, or best avoided ??

Are these engines pretty strong is the question i'm really asking i suppose ?? And if something is going to go pop, ie. turbo, head gasket, coil pack etc. are these stupidly expensive to replace or quite reasonable considering the amount of these VAG engines knocking about ??

Mase take a look on Audi-sport.net, loads of info on there. But generally so long as its been looked after the mileage is'nt a major issue. There are a few weak points but seem generally solid.

what you need to remember is the ecu compensates for high ambient temps and increases boost in warmer months and does the opposite for winter months to ensure the power figure stays the same

Unless your really uprated the SMIC are fine
