  Oh my good god!!!
That is so not a girl's car.
One of my mates had one at college before he got his MK I Escort.
Wicked little cars.
Always wanted a Lotus. Remember seeing rows of brand new ones waiting on the quayside on a school trip to France.

I don't think i've ever seen anything like that done to such a comparitively rare and valuable car.
It's like bulldozing an HSR or leaving an RS 2000 parked in the sea.
I can't begin to imagine how a Lotus Sunbeam (especially in the rarer colour) ends up being scrapped.

You'd be amazed what can be rescued these days.
Something that comparitively unusual would be worth the effort too.
I actually cannot remember that last time I saw one on the road.

Even a fudged shell would be worth a grand or so to the right crowd

Well thats bullshit if you've been told that....theres about 30 left, that are in regular use, in varying states of condition.
My dad had a absolute mint (I mean mint) S2 Lotus Sunbeam in the Moonstone (blue) with black stripe (which is rarer than the black with silver stripe, but not as rare as the blue with silver stripe) that was regarded as the best in the country, which he sold a couple of years ago to the editor of Autocar magazine, where it later had a feature. Theres a club SLOC, (Sunbeam Lotus Owners Club) which has pretty much every remaining car in the world documented.
You can get a minter, if you can find someone that wants to sell, for about £5-6k. A semi decent for about £3k and a shitter for £1-2k
My dads was great...very quick and handled soo well for a car of its age. The sound too!!!!!

He sold it in the end because it didn't get used enough cos my Mum wouldn't get in it!!!
AND to cut the roof off that shell........

alot of older cars had this design, its known as a contraflow head...
When the manifolds are on different sides of the head its known as crossflow heads (Ford made this a big thing)
Sunbeams are

Why is that bullshit He uses it every day to get to and from work. he is on the sunbeam lotus owners club, and his is the blue with the silver strip as you say. His is an A registered one and i believe there are only 3 of them remaining.
Tbh i dont know why everyones getting so mad about cutting the roof of the car. I know that they are rare cars, but if the guy was splitting it then thats hardly my choice is it, and my gf used it to her advantage.

You said it was the last remaining registered Sunbeam Lotus in the UK...thats incorrect theres at least 30 registered and still on the road....probably more. Infact there is definatley more than 30. The last SLOC National Day I went to there were about 50 cars present, that had been driven to the event.
