I just walked down the road in a down pour, I wasn't walking near a swollen river or trying to get fish out a pond or going for a swing in my arm bands down the Kennet.

Do you know this bloke by chance? I simply questioned how he died and what the emergency services done to save him.

Am I not allowed to question anything?

ARE YOU IDIOTS THINKING BEFORE YOU TYPE?

No where on that report does it say that when his foot got trapped he was immediatly under water, the water might have risen sharply as the rain got heavier, they might have had the chance to wrap him up.

You are all making assumptions when like me you don't know the facts.

Which is exactly what your doing but at the same time you are being typically arrogant and big headed thinking your comments and/or thought process is more relevant and helpful than most people who've posted but more importantly the no doubt numerous emergency service staff who were on hand to deal with the situation.

No i didnt know this man, i just happen to live not too far away from him in the same city.

What really pisses me off is that this sort of this uaually happens to the nice people. According to reports, he was helping an old man defend his house from the water when this all started.

I couldnt give a fuck if i get banned for saying the next bit...

But ollie, i hope next time this happens..it happens to you or some other twat you may know. Lets see if you question every action taken by the very people who were making every effort to save this mans life.

Ok I WAS SIMPLY QUESTIONING WHY THEY COULDNT GET THE MANS LEG OUT OF A FUCKING DRAIN YOU COMPLETE FUCKING FUCKWIT. When we came to the conclusion his leg was underwater and they couldn't get to it I then moved onto the next question which was how he died when they could physically reach him by hand and why they didn't use breathing aparatus on him? You couldn't give me an answer so it warranted the question. You lot on here are seriously fcuking demented I swear, never before have I witnessed such stupidity.

As a human being and having the freedom of speech I asked the question and you tell me I'm being a dickhead? Riiiigght.

It is abit strange how he was in the water for 3 hours, surely after X amount of time they would of just taken his foot off, breathing app. wouldnt of saved him from the cold - but the emergency services would of known before they got there that the water temperature would of kills him before the level of the water did

Thankyou Christ, someone with some common sense. This is exactly what I'm getting at but get called a dickhead for questioning it?

I'm with you 2 push comes to shove the foot gets sawed off and you save his life, 3 hours is sufficient time to come to terms with having to bite the bullet and amputate.

This is CS

None of us were there so can't really comment, like Jade has said if it endangers other people they just can't attempt anything else.

Sure enough if someone suspects misconduct etc then it will be investigated anyway

Its just a shame the guy died, and what a way to go

Now to follow my lines of investigation, maybe they couldn't get to his leg as it was 6 feet under muddy water and they couldn't remove it?

If the Police divers were there and had the ability to hold his head above water then why couldn't they chop his leg off?

As said i wasn't there however so can't really comment and it is a tragic loss of life.

Tragic situation But I have to admit, they had 3 hours to come up with the best plan of action to save the mans life, and if they can't find a good solution in 180 minutes, then that is pretty scary.

RIP.
