cosmo, i work for the council.
the "chip" is a barcode. it can be scanned to a particular address. that is it.
it doesn't do the shit that the papers say it does. eg weigh your waste etc.
it's not james bond shit ffs
I never said it did anything...I just said it had a chip which I got rid of
But TBH there is no reason for them to install a chip that a bin lorry can read to link a particular bin to an address unless it will eventually lead to measuring the waste produced by that household.

the way we used the chips in the green waste bins was just to count participation. thats about it.
no reason to take em out tbh

so are they counting participation for normal household waste, if so thats a stupid excuse to get them in there.
Recycling I agree with, as it is something not all houses do.

can, but won't
unless you contaminate it every 2 weeks with loads of household waste.
and even then, they are more likely to take the bin off of you and leave you with a weekly domestic collection than fine you.
can't prove you personally contaminated it can they?

We recycle paper, carboard, cans, plastic, glass, and i got a composter in the garden now too so we recycle all organic waste aswell. We usually have less than one black bag of rubbish a week between two of us

Our local authority won't accept the recycling bin if it has shredded paper in
